Poetry liberates, connects, and inspires. It slows us down, encourages feeling ánd thinking, and it stimulates our ability to read between the lines.

With so many nationalities in Maastricht, it is important to keep building connections between all groups. Language is a key way to do this. Whilst much communication already takes place in Dutch, non-locals are often not exposed to the Maastricht language: Mestreechs.

Therefore, we are creating poetic odes in Dutch and English with the Maastricht version next to it, which will be displayed throughout the city’s public spaces. These translations help build connections among all our inhabitants.

A walking route along the odes will be available, which can be explored independently or with a guide.
