Project OADS will bring poetic odes to the city of Maastricht in Dutch or English, which will be translated into Maastrichts.  

The project consists of 2 parts;
The first ode: by professional wordsmiths (June 2025)
The second ode: by inhabitants (like you!) of Maastricht with a focus on expats and international students (September 2025)

OADS aims to create more connection between the inhabitants of Maastricht via language.

An important part of this project is translating your written ode into the Maastricht language (Mestreechs). After the poems are selected, the writers will participate in a workshop where, together with a Mestreechs language expert, they will translate their poems. The bilingual odes will then be stenciled onto public surfaces around the city using chalk paint. Afterwards, a walking route will be created that guides visitors past all the poems.

Send your own ode to the city -according to the mentioned poem format- between Wednesday 25th of June and Friday the 15th of August 2025 to info@oads.nl and please mention your first and last name. If your poem was inspired by a specific place in the center, please also mention this in your e-mail.

 

If your poem gets selected to be made visible on the streets, you will receive an e-mail latest September the 1st.
